Recap of the First Spring Weekend

By Susi Felder
It’s April and spring games have started this past weekend.
On Saturday we played in Louisville, Kentucky, against Michigan State, Indiana and Michigan.
Starting off strong the first game we were able to beat Michigan State with a 4-0 shootout. This shows some good team effort! We implemented a new defensive play, which we were able to successfully execute.
After a little break we got to play against Indiana. 2x 25 minutes, like the first game. Going into halftime with a 1-0 lead, we ended up tying Indiana 2-2.
Everyones legs started to get tired. Therefore, we stretched and put our legs up the wall. At the same time some people should have used some sun cream, including myself, because they will be burned by the end of the day. But hey, no one complains about the good weather!
Michigan was our final opponent of the day. None of us were able to find the back of the net. The game ended with a 0-0 tie. Sadly, Krysti got hit in the knee and Aly on her hand, both were not able to finish the last game of the day.

After a few hours bus ride we arrived in Oxford, Ohio. On Sunday we would be playing Miami and Ohio State.
This time we had 4x 15 minutes against Miami. We were not able to score but they had some good chances and used them well. We lost this game by 4 goals.
A little more communication inside our rows and we might have played a little better of a game.
A 20 minute break and we already started to play our next game against Ohio State. 2x30 minutes with time outs at the 15minute mark. With this game we recorded our third tie for the weekend 2-2, after being behind in the score.
We had some really nice plays and connecting passes and patience over the ball. I don’t think anyone doubted it, that we would at least tie the game. We really did not want to lose our last game of the weekend as well.
